* If the Bishop to the Armed Forces is not a member of the General Synod, the Armed Forces Synod may choose to elect either one additional ordained or one additional lay chaplain, but there may not be more than seven members elected by the Armed Forces Synod in total.

 

† The Chair of the Dioceses Commission and the six members appointed to the Archbishops’ Council may be members of any of the Synod’s three Houses. The Dean of the Arches & Auditor, the two Vicars-General, the Third Church Estates Commissioner and the Chair of the Pensions Board may only be members either of the House of Clergy or of the House of Laity.
